Technology Research in Infinity Kingdom

Technology in Infinity Kingdom – An Overview
Technology is the backbone of long-term growth in Infinity Kingdom. While your marches, dragons, and immortals often steal the spotlight, your real ceiling of power is determined by how far your technology research has gone. Every upgrade in the Academy directly influences your efficiency, your strength in battle, and how quickly you can progress through each season.
In this article we are going to be going through each of the four different technology trees, meaning the four different types of technology research you will find inside your Academy. It is important to note, that the way you should progress this technology depends on your activity level, how much you spend and have access to speedups and on your access to resources. I will include small tips and tricks as to how to best prioritize as you grow, but in general this will be an overview and introduction to the way technology works in Infinity Kingdom for newer players. If you are looking only for information on the best progression paths, see my other guide under castle > technology.
How Technology Progression Works
Technology research happens in the Academy. To unlock deeper and stronger nodes in the tech trees, you first need to:

- Upgrade prerequisite nodes: Most new nodes require prior technologies to reach a certain level before they unlock.
- Upgrade your Academy level: Each time your Academy levels up, new parts of the technology trees become available. Once unlocked you can progress the tree but remember you will need the prerequisite nodes also.
- Prioritize Technology as you grow: The Tech Trees are quite long and it will take you FAR longer to finish upgrading your technology than your buildings and dragons. Therefore, technology is where the smart player invests resources and speedups to get ahead. You will have downtime on e.g. builders as you wait for a new seasonal limit increase on buildings, but your technology is not going to be complete until you are far into conquest.
Research consumes resources and speedups to rapid finish, so pacing your Academy levels with your resource generation is key. Even whales can get stuck if they over-invest without balancing speedups and resources.
The Four Technology Trees
There are four distinct technology trees in Infinity Kingdom. Each serves a different purpose, and knowing their role helps you decide what to prioritize at different stages of the game.
1. Production
The Production tree is all about growth and economy. It boosts resource generation, building speed, carry load, and other efficiency-related stats.

- What it’s good for: Rushing early building upgrades (Speedy Construction), sustaining your gold economy (Gold Piles), and cheaper research (Rapid Progress).
- When to focus: Early game quickly pick up construction, get some gold boost (important) and a bit of tech research boost (5-7/10 ish depending on spending level. The more you spend and earn speedups the more you will be bottlenecked on resources and not speeds. If you are F2P you may want to push development further, but ultimately that depends on your ability to quickly and consistently farm resources).
- Later this tree is not as impactful as combat trees, but essential for faster overall progression and thus very good to get early on. Note that you will be bottlenecked for gold shortly but in season 2 it becomes much more readily available as you can push Infernals with your alliance.
2. Troops
The Troop tree powers up your actual soldiers: cavalry, shieldmen, bowmen, and spearmen.

- What it’s good for: Straight combat strength. Attack, defense and the powerful “major node” upgrades like Great Vigor and Sturdy Build in the first major row and Double Shot and Shield Block. These are very powerful and ones you want to push for as milestones.

- When to focus: Season 1 especially, since these upgrades give your marches a huge immediate impact in PvP and PvE. In season 1 Troop Technology is the most value for your armies. You are going to want to dip into the Immortal tree but then you want to go max the Troop tree before the end of season 1 if possible (see below for details). The efficiency dips in Season 2 simply because the new nodes unlocked on the trees are better in Immortal than the new ones added to Troop tech.
3. Immortals
The Immortal tree enhances your Immortals directly. This is perhaps a bit wierd to understand, since we are fighting with Troops and Immortals automatically. But the way it works is, that modifiers can apply to troops or immortals, both have their own attribute modifiers. Immortal ultimate skills and ToK skill output scales off of troop stats/attributes and Immortal stats/attributes.

- What it’s good for: Quickly (in season 1 before you finish Troop) dive in for Gold efficiency (Boost Consumption), faster ultimate skill charging (Outstanding Talent), and, after finishing Troop tech and in later seasons, collect the massive troop count increases.
- When to focus: Modest upgrades in Season 1, then a top priority in Season 2 once troop count nodes unlock. These nodes are some of the most powerful in the entire game.
4. Defense
The Defense tree strengthens your city walls and fortifications.

- What it’s good for: Defensive bonuses like Iron Body (pretty much the only worth while tech node and hidden way too deep) and stronger fortifications.

- When to focus: Honestly, this is the lowest-priority tree for most players. It only really matters if you’re a heavy city defender or a completionist. For raw power and march strength, the other three trees outclass it by far.
Closing Thoughts
Technology is less flashy than pulling a new immortal or leveling a dragon, but it’s the steady engine behind everything you do. Without it, your marches plateau early, and your economy struggles to keep up. The key is pacing: match your Academy level ups with your seasonal goals, and don’t spread too thin across all trees at once.
In conclusion, technology research is crucial in Infinity Kingdom, and players who neglect it will find it challenging to succeed in the game. The four types of technology research available in the game are development, troops, immortals, and defense. Each type of technology research is essential and plays a unique role in a player’s success in the game. Technology research is one of the most important aspects of the game and is vital to growth and player power.
Bottom line: Do not underestimate technology, this should be your main priority as you grow and progress in Infinity Kingdom.
