Sun Chariot
Sun Chariot Skin Guide – Pirate Event (September 2025)
Alright, so the Pirate seasonal event dropped a new skin this month called Sun Chariot, and it’s a new version of tank-skins not like previously released combat skins. Moreover, it is drop dead gorgeous, but that is just visuals ofcourse! Normally when we get a “tank” skin, it’s some mix of HP% and a sub-stat like troop death rate reduction, for example with Goddess of Victory. This one however changes things on its head and gives Immortal Physical Defense, Immortal Magical Defense, and March Speed. That last part is the kicker — march speed completely changes how you play out fights.

Obtaining Sun Chariot
You can get Sun Chariot straight up with the $50 battle pass, or you can try your luck with the Dazzling Wish, but that’s a 0.05% jackpot roll. I wouldn’t bank on that. If you want it, you’re basically buying it through the pass.

What makes Sun Chariot different
The Immortal defenses here are decent, and I actually like them more than the 2–3% HP we’ve had on earlier defensive skins. But the real standout is the march speed. Being able to move faster means you can hit someone and recall before their march lands, which is a huge advantage if you’ve got fast fingers. You can play poke games, stall out rallies, and just generally force your opponent to fight on your terms. That kind of mobility on a defensive skin is something we haven’t had before, and it makes Sun Chariot a lot more flexible than the usual “just tank longer” approach.

Personally, I am using the Mt. Paradise skin a lot for this very reason, as it gives me an option to fight with offensively and defensively with my main at the same time if at range against enemies who do not run a movespeed skin.

Comparing Sun Chariot to Abyssal and Skyriver
So let’s talk comparisons, because that’s the real question everyone has: is Sun Chariot actually better than Abyssal or Skyriver?
Abyssal Throne gives flat out Troop Attack (5-15)%, plus the little bit of death rate reduction. And honestly, troop stats scale way harder than Immortal stats. A 10% boost to Troop Attack gets multiplied by all 60k+ soldiers in your march late game, which is why Abyssal feels so insanely strong no matter what march you’re running. It’s just pure power, and since we’re seeing Abyssal fragments show up more often in passes, it’s also way easier to upgrade consistently than the new Sun Chariot.

Skyriver is a bit different. That one gives Immortal Attack % (both physical and magical) plus death rate reduction. So it’s kind of a hybrid: makes your Immortals hit harder while also softening troop losses. It’s not as universally good as Abyssal, but if you’re damage-focused it can still be a strong option.

Now, Sun Chariot gives Immortal Defense and march speed. Compared to Skyriver and Abyssal, the defenses are weaker long-term because they don’t multiply through your whole march. But that march speed is what keeps it in the conversation — if you’re the type of player who’s quick with recalls, Sun Chariot lets you play hit-and-run in a way the other two skins can’t.
Why troop stats win in the long run
Here’s the part that’s easy to miss: Immortal stats don’t scale nearly as well as troop stats. Your Immortal is just one unit. If you give them +10% defense, that makes them harder to kill, but it doesn’t do anything for the 60,000 troops backing them up. Troop Attack or Troop Defense, on the other hand, applies to every single soldier in the march. That means it’s multiplied across tens of thousands of units, and that multiplier makes troop stats exponentially stronger than Immortal stats once you’re late game.

That’s why Abyssal’s Troop Attack % is still the best skin bonus in the game in my opinion. And honestly, if we ever get a Troop Defense % skin — which feels like it’s only a matter of time — that’ll probably outclass Sun Chariot too (pure speculation, but would follow the current release pattern). Troop Defense would be like the perfect tank option, because it would scale across your entire march instead of just making your Immortals sturdier.
My personal take
So if you’re asking me straight up which skin to invest in, I’d say Abyssal Throne still wins every time and luckily, you get both the Sun Chariot unlock and the Abyssal Fragments in the Pirate Battle Pass! Yay, go ahead and get that. Should you in future invest in Sun Chariot if more options come available? Should you invest in the Dazzling Wish to upgrade it? No. It is not good enough for that.
That said, Sun Chariot isn’t worthless. If you’re already stacked on Abyssal and you’re looking for a situational tool, Sun Chariot can give you some really nasty tricks with march speed. The unlock will be useful to replace Mt. Paradise when speed is needed. Being able to smack an opponent and instantly recall before they hit you — that’s huge in IBL, KvK, or just castle brawls when you’re trying to bleed an enemy without over-committing. If you’re quick, it actually feels broken in the right situations.
But if we’re talking raw power, Troop Attack beats Immortal Defense. And if/when Troop Defense shows up, that’ll be even stronger. So for now, Abyssal is still the king, Skyriver has its place, and Sun Chariot is more of a specialty skin for people who want to play smart with mobility.
Final thoughts
At the end of the day, Sun Chariot is fun and unique, but it doesn’t dethrone Abyssal. Immortal Defense is nice, march speed is amazing if you can take advantage of it, but it doesn’t scale the way troop stats do. If you’re only picking one skin, go Abyssal. If you’re a spender and already have Abyssal maxed out, then yeah, Sun Chariot adds some spicy new options to your toolkit.
The bottom line? Abyssal is power. Sun Chariot is flexibility. And when troop defense eventually drops, that’ll probably be the new tank king.
