Fire Cyrus conquest or seasons (written in patch 2.8.9)

🔥 Fire Cyrus Crit–Burst Guide huge thanks to GoldenState for sharing his build, S344

This guide looks at a fire build used by GoldenState from Server 344 — a setup that performs far above its cost level and has become one of the better options for cheap spenders, low spenders, and even patient F2P players. What makes it interesting is that it doesn’t rely on the usual high-end fire investments like Fu Fei or Himiko. Instead, it leans on a smart synergy: stacking crit rate for Empress Wu, reducing enemy resilience with Cyrus, and controlling enemy energy through Hippolyta. For reference, GoldenState is going toe to toe with expensive meta marches while at VIP level 11! Insane performance. Let’s dive in!

The entire structure is a burst-centric fire team built around reaching near-100% crit chance on Empress Wu. With enough crit and reduced resilience on the enemy, Wu’s damage spikes extremely fast, often deciding the fight before the enemy can stabilize. The control from Cyrus and Hippo smooths out the burst window, making the build surprisingly consistent even in Conquest.

This setup works well from Season 1→ Season 2 → early Conquest, and with a few adjustments and remains competitive deep into Conquest.

Immortal Lineup Breakdown

Cyrus — Crit Support & Stun Triggers

Cyrus is our backline support by default. His resilience reduction is exactly what Wu needs to hit reliable crits, and every crit has a chance to trigger his stun mechanic. In a build where Wu and Hippo crits constantly, this adds up to an impressive amount of stun control. He is obtainable through for free through King of the Hill and cheap in Elemental Bonds.

Talent:
Battle Excitation — early energy and increased damage for Wu help secure massive burst. This is very important! As you upgrade talents, you should prioritize Wu and Cyrus first with your Books.

Trajan — Crit Buffs & Frontline Stability

Trajan provides both crit chance and crit damage buffs, keeping your whole lineup online. He’s also resonably easy to obtain via Golden Path in bulk, which fits the philosophy of this build.

Talent:
Fearless Stance — fights end quickly for this team, so defensive consistency is better than stacking shield cycles you may not reach.

Empress Wu — Your Main Damage Source

Everything here is built around Wu. She is the sole heavy damage dealer, and with crit stacking and chase support she can output extremely high numbers in a short span of time.

Talent:
Stormeye Spell — adds direct damage and more crit rate. Amazing talent for a crit-mage build but also simply the default talent for mages.

Artifact:
Aim for:

  • Crit % main stat,
  • Annihilation as the bonus effect,
  • and ideally additional crit sub-stats.

This is one of the most important long-term upgrades for the build is a strong artifact on Wu. Keep grinding in Mysterium and other events until you get that % crit main plus annihilation bonus. Then re-craft the secondaries until you land a crit %, hopefully with some magic damage too!

Hippolyta — Energy Control & Secondary Damage

Hippo keeps the enemy’s ult cycle slow, letting Wu fire first and often. She does decent damage on her own even without heavy skill investment, but her real purpose here is the energy control and her many damage instances triggering Cyrus stuns.

Talent:
Destroyer Stance — crit rate and consistent damage pressure.

Optional Swap:
If you have a strong Ragnar or Bjorn, you can replace Hippo for more damage to further improve the immortal setup, but you lose control and the matchups shift slightly. That being said, the damage amp later into conquest matter!

Skill Setup

Cyrus

  • Energy Suppression — essential to slow enemy ult timing.
  • Assist — protects Wu’s troop count, which directly boosts her damage.
  • Fountain of Life — used mainly to counter No Escape; level 1 is enough.

If you don’t have Fountain of Life:
Use Purify, Resist, or Oaken Guard depending on matchups.

Trajan

  • Weakness Aura — mandatory for max crit consistency.
  • Weakening Curse — strong versus physical dealers, especially early game.
  • Guard — works nicely with Fearless Stance to protect Hippo.

Budget options:
Resist/Oaken Guard and Blessing of War.

Hippolyta

  • Oaken Guard or Resist — swap depending on whether you face magical or physical damage.
  • Blessing of Rage — extra energy to keep your rotation fast.
  • Malice — very important in the current crit-heavy meta.

Empress Wu

  • Fighting Master — you really want this; it stops control effects from disrupting your burst.
  • Spell Disintegration — lowers enemy magical defense and procs chase reliably.
  • Chase Skill (choose one):
    • Spell Disintegration (GoldenState’s choice)
    • Death Breath
    • Toxin Nova (always toxin for fire builds because burns do not stack)

All three work, but Spell Disintegration fits this setup the cleanest. Read more about DB, Nova and Spell Disintegration as Chase trigger skills in this guide.

Further Development

When you reach Conquest and start collecting legendary skills, here’s the sensible progression:

High-End Legendary Options

  • Infinite Firepower
  • Energy Master

Both are excellent but expensive to rank. For this build being a Chase build, I recommend Infinite Firepower as your priority.

Best First Legendary Skill

Fountain of Life
Perfectly viable to run at level 1 and immediately solves No Escape matchups. Making it a “cheap” legendary – but again, its still a legendary skill so cheap is only relative to ranking up e.g. Infinite Firepower.

Other late-game skill paths

  • No Escape
  • Chaos Storm
  • Abundant Spirit
  • Energy Shield
  • Heart of Arcana

Useful, but not required to make this specific build function.

Dragon Setup

Use Calamity, prioritizing the talent nodes that increase Empress Wu’s damage consistency and crit synergy. Fire Dragon talents matter more in burst builds because the early timing window is everything.

Player Perspective

If I were building this from the ground up, I’d focus on:

  • Securing Unique Artifacts for all four immortals (just one for effect to begin with)
  • Getting Wu’s artifact to land crit % and Annihilation (will require a grind!).
  • Making sure to always collect immortal fragments, as to level up talents quickly. Especially Wu and Cyrus fragments as their talents are by far the most impactful. Note Wu is hard to get, make sure to grind out Contention of Relics!
  • Keeping Qin leveled on the side. When you meet heavy heal-sustain teams like Theodora builds, you’ll want him available for a wounds swap.

This march rewards patient development. Even without expensive skills, it reliably beats teams that cost far more, and the matchups stay positive as long as your burst window stays ahead of the enemy’s control or sustain curve.

Conclusion Summary

GoldenState’s Fire Cyrus build is one of the strongest affordable fire lineups available. It delivers high burst, strong energy control, and impressive consistency without relying on top-tier paywall immortals like Fu Fei or Himiko. With the right crit stacking and resilience reduction, Empress Wu becomes a reliable nuker from Season 1 all the way into Conquest.

Bottom line:
If you want a fire team that doesn’t require deep spending but still competes at a high level, this is one of the most efficient and flexible builds you can run.
