Cost Efficiency Guide: Eternal Grail vs. Chaos Roulette

With the 5th Anniversary Eternal Grail event, many players are asking a straightforward question:

Is spending Tokens of Light for Chaos Immortal fragments more cost-efficient than building them through the traditional Chaos Roulette?

This guide compares the fragment cost efficiency of the Eternal Grail event against the long-established Chaos Roulette system.

We are not including Tengu in this comparison. If you are targeting Tengu specifically, Eternal Grails are the only source and comparison is irrelevant. This guide applies to all other Chaos Immortals.

The goal here is simple: calculate the real expected cost per fragment in Eternal Grail, then compare it to the established Chaos Roulette benchmark.

Part 1 – Eternal Grail Event Economics

Grail Drop Rates per Token of Light

Each Token of Light gives one roll with the following rewards:

Expected Grails per Token

I calculate the weighted average:

300 × 0.0045 = 1.35
50 × 0.0155 = 0.775
25 × 0.035 = 0.875
5 × 0.12 = 0.6
1 × 0.825 = 0.825

Total expected Grails per token ≈ 4.425. That number is critical for all further calculations.

Cost of Tokens of Light

In-Game & GTarcade Shop Pricing

Average Price per Token

Across all bundles, the rough blended average is approximately: $1.37 per Token of Light

Note: If you only buy the most efficient bundles (3 and 5 token packs at $1 per token), your effective price drops closer to $1.00 per token. Most spenders, however, end up mixing bundles due to daily stock limits, so we will use $1.37 as a realistic working average.

Part 2 – Cost to Fully Build a Chaos Immortal via Eternal Grail

Each 80 Chaos Immortal fragments costs 450 Grails.

That means: 1 fragment = 5.625 Grails

Unlocking Immortal Stars + Artifact Slot (1640 Fragments)

You need 1640 immortal fragments to upgrade a chaos immortal from nothing to 8 stars plus artifact slot unlock. Let’s have a look at the pricing given the above calculations.

Grails Required

1640 × 5.625 = 9,225 Grails

Tokens Required

9,225 ÷ 4.425 ≈ 2,084 Tokens

Cost

2,084 × $1.37 ≈ $2,854

Eternal Grail Cost for 1640 Fragments ≈ $2,850

Talents to Level 8 (Additional 2190 Fragments)

You need 2190 immortal fragments to upgrade a chaos immortal from 8 stars plus artifact slot unlock to achieve level 8 immortal talent. Let’s have a look at the pricing given the above calculations.

Grails Required

2190 × 5.625 = 12,318.75 Grails

Tokens Required

12,318.75 ÷ 4.425 ≈ 2,783 Tokens

Cost

2,783 × $1.37 ≈ $3,812

Eternal Grail Cost for 2190 Fragments ≈ $3,810

Total Cost via Eternal Grail

If purchasing only $1/token bundles, total would still be roughly $4,867, but stock limitations make this unrealistic for large builds.

Chaos Roulette Benchmark

From established Chaos Roulette math:

Upgrading stars, artifact and talents to level 8 on a chaos immortal

  • You need 1640 fragments to unlock all stars and artifact slot on a Chaos immortal.
    • 1640 ÷ 131.1 ≈ 12.5 weeks. In practice, players should plan for 13 weeks.
    • Assuming efficient GTarcade bundles at $0.50 per Eye: 209.9 Eyes × $0.50 ≈ $105 per weekTotal cost: ≈ $1,365
  • You need another 2190 immortal fragments to upgrade immortal talent to level 8 (all nodes level 1 for quickest progression to level 8).
    • 2190 ÷ 131.1 ≈ 16,7 weeks. In practice, players should plan for 17 weeks.
    • Assuming efficient GTarcade bundles at $0.50 per Eye: 209.9 Eyes × $0.50 ≈ $105 per week for 17 weeks. Total cost: ≈ $1,784

Total cost to get a Chaos from nothing to level 8 talents: $3150.

Direct Comparison

Key Observation

Eternal Grail costs more than double Chaos Roulette for existing Chaos Immortals.

Conclusion Summary

  • Eternal Grail averages 4.425 Grails per token.
  • Realistic average cost per token ≈ $1.37.
  • Full Chaos Immortal (stars + talent 8) costs ~$6,660 via Grails.
  • The same progression costs ~$3,150 via Chaos Roulette.
  • Eternal Grail is more than 2× as expensive for existing Chaos Immortals.

For practical players planning long-term investment, Chaos Roulette remains the significantly more cost-efficient method for building Chaos Immortals outside of Tengu.
