What is Elemental Bond and how does it differ from the old From Triumph of Fate?

With the release of Patch 2.8.4, Infinity Kingdom has retired the long-standing and generally underwhelming Triumph of Fate event, replacing it with a completely revamped and significantly improved version: Elemental Bond. This new event introduces a modernized structure, rotating Immortal pools, and a cost-effective shard acquisition method for paying players.

In this guide, we’ll break down how the new Elemental Bond event works, its key differences from Triumph of Fate, optimal spending strategy, and overall evaluation from both a pay-to-play and free-to-play perspective.

What Changed From Triumph of Fate?

Triumph of Fate used to offer:

  • 12-card flip board
  • Up to 12 Immortal Shards
  • 1 Sun Crystal, 2 Artifact Fragment Chests
  • Some Dragon Crystals, EXP Scrolls, and Speedups
  • 2 free daily flips
  • Additional flips at 300 Gems each

However, this event was widely criticized for its poor rewards, low Immortal variety, and lack of shard consistency.

With Patch 2.8.4, Triumph of Fate has been retired. In its place stands Elemental Bond, with meaningful upgrades that focus on value, predictability, and expanded Immortal choices.

How the New Elemental Bond Works

Event Duration: Weekly, from Friday to Monday.

Event Mechanics:

  • You flip cards on a 12-tile board, aiming to match pairs.
  • Each flip costs 1 Soulglass Crest, a new event currency available only via in-game bundles.
  • Instead of flipping one by one, you can use a Flip All option, which costs 12 Soulglass Crests and instantly gives all the rewards.

Rewards Per Round:

  • 12 Immortal Fragments of your selected target
  • 30 Element Dragon Shards matching your Immortal’s element

Rotation System:

  • Immortals are split into two-element groups that rotate every two days:
    • Water & Earth
    • Earth & Lightning
    • Lightning & Wind
    • And so on
  • Only elemental Immortals are available (no Shadow, Holy, or Chaos)
  • Immortal pool includes high-value rares such as Charles, Han, and Baldwin

Bundle Pricing:

  • All packs offer the same consistent value: 1 Soulglass Crest = $0.25
  • 12 Crests = $3 (cost to complete 1 full flip session)
  • No value degradation in higher-priced bundles (a rarity for IK)

Is Elemental Bond Worth It?

For Light to Mid Spenders

  • YES.
  • $3 per 12 Fragments of top-tier Immortals like Charles or Khan is excellent.
  • Compare this to $99 Epic Return packs or Lucky Spins with lower predictability.
  • You also receive a small number of Dragon Shards to help develop dragons.

For Free-to-Play (F2P) Players

  • NO.
  • Unlike Triumph of Fate, no free daily flips are available.
  • No way to earn Soulglass Crests through gameplay or gems.
  • The event creates a stronger paywall around Immortal acquisition.

Strategic Tips

  • Always use Flip All: Since the reward is fixed and there’s no RNG advantage to flipping manually, save time and just Flip All for 12 Crests.
  • Choose Wisely: Pick Immortals that are hard to get elsewhere. Go for Charles, Baldwin, Han, or Wu if available.
  • Bundle Efficiency: Buying the cheapest bundles repeatedly yields the same value as large packs — buy according to your budget.
  • Dragon Shards: Don’t expect large shard gains here. This is more about Immortal progress than Dragon growth.

Final Verdict

Pros:

  • Predictable, fixed-price Immortal acquisition
  • High-value Immortals in rotation
  • Excellent for catch-up and focused spending
  • Consistent pack value (rare for IK)

Cons:

  • Fully paywalled; no F2P access
  • Limited Dragon Shard gains
  • No Artifact rewards or added bonuses

Elemental Bond is a strong addition to the game for low- and mid-spenders. While it does remove free options for F2P players, it makes acquiring some of the game’s best Immortals significantly more affordable and predictable. It represents a step forward in value, though not necessarily in accessibility.

We hope to see future iterations include hybrid mechanics, such as a free daily flip or gem conversion to open it up to more players.
