Max Resource to EXP efficiency for artifact leveling
Artifact Leveling and EXP Efficiency in Infinity Kingdom
Artifacts are one of the most impactful progression systems in Infinity Kingdom. While they may appear secondary compared to buildings, technology, or immortal ascension, artifacts contribute a significant portion of an immortal’s effective combat power. They scale core stats that influence damage thresholds, survivability breakpoints, and consistency in prolonged fights.

In modern Infinity Kingdom, city progression is fast. Buildings and technology advance quickly, especially compared to earlier versions of the game. Artifact leveling, however, does not scale at the same pace. As a result, many players reach mid and late game with strong cities and well-built immortals, but underleveled artifacts across their primary marches.
Reaching artifact level 15 is especially demanding. While the level cap itself does not look extreme, the cumulative EXP requirement becomes a major bottleneck when multiplied across multiple immortals and multiple marches. This pressure is felt most acutely at the same time players are heavily investing resources into city development and technology.

Understanding EXP efficiency, i.e. how many resources you spend per point of artifact EXP, is therefore critical.
To further understand artifact upgrading and efficient use of EXP, read this guide too.
How Artifact EXP Is Actually Generated
Artifact EXP primarily comes from feeding artifacts into other artifacts. While fragments are earned from many sources, including events and rewards, the consistent and free-to-play source of long-term artifact fragments is Mysterium. These fragments are non-unique and are well suited for EXP purposes.

This guide does not focus on fragment acquisition strategies. The assumption is simple: keep farming Mysterium consistently. The real challenge lies in what happens next—forging artifacts and converting them into EXP efficiently.
Artifact Forging Basics
All artifacts, regardless of tier, follow the same basic forging structure.
Each artifact requires two types of forging materials, with six of each, for a total of twelve materials per artifact. While the individual resource composition may vary (some materials cost more wood, others more iron or food), the total resource cost per material tier is fixed. For efficiency analysis, it is therefore correct to treat all costs as total resources.

This allows us to compare tiers directly.
Resource Cost to Forge One Artifact
The following values represent the total resource cost to forge a single artifact of each tier:
- Normal (Green): 132,000 resources per material → 1,584,000 resources per artifact
- Rare (Blue): 800,000 resources per material → 9,600,000 resources per artifact
- Elite (Purple): 2,000,000 resources per material → 24,000,000 resources per artifact
- Epic (Orange): 4,800,000 resources per material → 57,600,000 resources per artifact
Legendary artifacts are excluded from this guide. Using them for EXP is never efficient under any realistic scenario.
Artifact EXP Values by Tier
When forged artifacts are consumed as EXP fodder, they provide the following amounts:
- Green: 10 EXP
- Blue: 30 EXP
- Purple: 100 EXP
- Orange: 300 EXP
Unique artifacts provide no EXP advantage over non-unique ones. From a pure EXP standpoint, uniqueness is irrelevant.
The total EXP required to reach artifact level 15 is 3,380 EXP.
Core Metric: Resources per 1 EXP
The most important efficiency metric is how many resources are required to generate one point of EXP.
- Green: 158,400 resources per EXP
- Blue: 320,000 resources per EXP
- Purple: 240,000 resources per EXP
- Orange: 192,000 resources per EXP
Efficiency Ranking (Best to Worst)
- Green
- Orange
- Purple
- Blue
This ranking is consistent and unforgiving. From a purely mathematical standpoint, Blue artifacts are the least efficient EXP source in the game.
Total Resource Cost to Max an Artifact (Level 15)
To put the efficiency into practical terms, here is what it costs to generate 3,380 EXP using each tier.
Ideal Cost (No Wasted EXP)
- Green: 535,392,000 resources
- Blue: 1,081,600,000 resources
- Purple: 811,200,000 resources
- Orange: 648,960,000 resources
Practical Cost (Whole Artifacts Only)
Because artifacts can only be consumed whole, slight overproduction is unavoidable.
- Green: 338 artifacts → 535,392,000 resources
- Blue: 113 artifacts → 1,084,800,000 resources
- Purple: 34 artifacts → 816,000,000 resources
- Orange: 12 artifacts → 691,200,000 resources
The takeaway is clear: Blue artifacts cost roughly twice as much as Green to reach the same result, and significantly more than both Purple and Orange.
EXP Return per Million Resources
Another useful way to view efficiency is EXP gained per 1,000,000 resources spent:
- Green: 6.31 EXP per million
- Orange: 5.21 EXP per million
- Purple: 4.17 EXP per million
- Blue: 3.13 EXP per million
This perspective reinforces the same conclusion: Green artifacts convert resources into EXP better than any other tier.
Practical Strategy for Most Players
For players managing limited resources while upgrading multiple marches, the optimal EXP strategy follows a clear hierarchy.
Green artifacts are the most resource-efficient EXP source and should form the backbone of long-term artifact leveling plans. They are slow in volume but unmatched in value.
Orange artifacts offer the best balance between efficiency and speed. While slightly less efficient than Green, they drastically reduce the number of artifacts required and are often preferred when pushing key artifacts to level 15 quickly.
Purple artifacts sit in an inefficient middle ground. They are acceptable if already available, but rarely worth forging specifically for EXP.
Blue artifacts should generally be avoided as EXP fodder. Their cost-to-EXP ratio is the worst in the system, and they consume resources that could be used far more effectively elsewhere.
Final Thoughts: Why Efficiency Matters Long-Term
Artifact leveling is not a one-time task. As you build more marches, unlock more immortals, and refine your competitive setups, EXP demand grows continuously. Because artifact transmutation directly competes with city and technology development, inefficient EXP choices can quietly delay overall progression.
Understanding resource-to-EXP efficiency allows you to level artifacts deliberately rather than reactively. Over time, this translates into stronger marches, smoother progression, and fewer moments where artifact leveling becomes a bottleneck rather than a power spike.
For players who want sustained strength rather than short-term gains, artifact EXP efficiency is not optional—it is foundational.

Explaining the difference between Crit Rate, Crit Bonus and their interaction with Resilience
Introduction Critical hits are one of the defining damage mechanics in Infinity Kingdom. Nearly every high-damage lineup in the current meta relies on them in some form, especially ranged carries and magic-focused backlines that can stack offensive stats through artifacts, talents, research, and conquest equipment. The problem is that many players confuse Crit Rate and…
