Server migration post patch 2.8.8 (october 2025)
The v2.8.8 update in Infinity Kingdom completely reshapes how migration works. Gone are the days when any player could hop between servers with a simple permit and a bit of luck. Now, your ability to migrate — or to allow others into your server — is governed by new systems that introduce scarcity, strategy, and political control.

This guide breaks down everything you need to know about how migration will function after Patch v2.8.8, including the new Command Power benchmark, Special Migration Slots, and the King’s control over who enters or stays out.
The New Core Concept: Command Power
At the heart of the new migration system is something called Command Power. This is a dynamic number that represents your server’s overall power level.

How it works:
- Every day at 00:00 UTC, the game looks at the historical highest power of the top players on your server.
- It then takes the average of those players’ numbers.
- That average becomes your server’s Command Power for the day.
You can think of Command Power as the entry benchmark — it’s the bar that determines who can migrate freely and who needs a special resource to move.
Why it matters:
- It scales with your top players. As your whales get stronger, Command Power rises.
- It creates a living, evolving threshold. What’s “free” today might not be tomorrow if your server’s top players gain power.
Special Migration Slots – The New Currency of Power
To manage migration, Infinity Kingdom now introduces Special Migration Slots — a limited and valuable resource tied to each server.
How Special Slots Work
When a player tries to migrate to a server:
- If their historical highest lord power is lower than that server’s Command Power, they can migrate freely (no slot required).
- If their historical highest lord power is equal to or higher than the server’s Command Power, they must consume one Special Migration Slot from the target server.
Slot Limits by Season
Each server only has a small number of these slots per season:
- Season 1: 3 slots
- Season 2: 5 slots
- Conquest Season: 8 slots
- Legendary Season: 8 slots
When a server transitions to a new season, its slots refresh.
Why this matters:
These slots are the gatekeeping mechanism. Only a handful of powerful players can migrate into any given server per season. This ensures balance and prevents large-scale stacking of whales into new or weaker servers.
Example:
If your server is in Legendary Season, you can only let in eight players whose historical highest power meets or exceeds your Command Power benchmark. Everyone else below that level can enter freely.
The King – Now the Ultimate Gatekeeper

The most dramatic part of this update is how much power the King now holds over migration.
When the King sets migration conditions for their server, they choose between two options:
Option 1: Allow Special Migration
- High-power players (≥ Command Power) can enter by consuming a Special Slot.
- All others below the threshold migrate freely.
Option 2: Disallow Special Migration
- High-power players (≥ Command Power) cannot enter at all.
- Only players below the Command Power can migrate freely.
If no King is currently active on a server, the system uses the last saved settings from the previous King — meaning a King’s decision can persist even after their reign ends.
Developer and Player Notes:
This is a massive change, both because we’re getting limits on how much of a power jump a server can take and because it slows consolidation. It will take many rounds of migration for a server to gradually increase its Special Slot limits and push Command Power upward. For those used to merging multiple strong servers quickly, this will feel restrictive — but it’s a good move for game health.
From my own experience with recent KVKs, Season 1 servers have suffered from oversized battlegroups where one powerhouse server dominates. This change helps reduce that imbalance. With stricter limits, servers will grow more gradually, keeping fights fairer and more engaging. Personally, I think it’s a healthy long-term fix, even if it frustrates consolidation-focused servers at first.
However, there’s a flip side: based on the patch wording, there’s no longer an option to block migration entirely for players below Command Power. That means anyone under the threshold can join freely — and for many servers, that threshold will be high. The concern here is that open migration may expose servers to rogue or toxic players entering uninvited. It’s a potential vulnerability, and in my opinion, one that should be reconsidered by the devs.
How This Changes Migration Strategy

1. Kingship Is Now a Political Position
The King’s migration setting affects every alliance and player on the server. If the King disables Special Migration, no top players can join — even if an alliance wants them. That makes the throne a position of immense strategic and political influence.
2. Scarcity Creates Competition
Because there are so few Special Slots, alliances must coordinate who gets priority. Expect discussions (and arguments) around who’s worth a slot, especially for competitive KVK servers.
3. Recruitment Becomes Selective
New Season 1 servers can only bring in three over-threshold players, so big jump teams or veteran whales can’t overwhelm a fresh start. This means early-season growth will rely more on in-server players rather than imported veterans.
4. Power Management Matters
Because Command Power depends on your top players’ highest power, massive power spikes by whales will push the Command Power threshold higher — making it easier for mid-level players to count as “free” migrants. Servers that coordinate growth may control this number more effectively.
Example Scenarios
Scenario 1 – Recruiting a Whale
Server xx (Legendary Season) has a Command Power of 10,000,000 (top player’s average).
- Player A’s historical highest lord power: 9,000,000 → Free migration.
- Player B’s historical highest lord power: 10,500,000 → Requires 1 Special Migration Slot.
If the King has allowed Special Migration, Player B can move in, consuming one of the eight slots.
If the King has disallowed Special Migration, Player B cannot move in at all.
Scenario 2 – Empty Slot Pool
If all Special Migration Slots for your season are used, no more above-threshold players can enter your server until it advances to the next season.
Scenario 3 – No King
If the King abdicates or is dethroned, the last saved migration setting remains active. If the King locked migration before leaving, the borders stay closed.
Strategic Recommendations
For Kings
- Set a clear migration policy early. Announce whether Special Migration is open or closed so alliances can plan recruitment.
- Coordinate slot usage with R6s and top alliances. Decide which players are worth consuming slots for.
- Monitor Command Power. Watch your top players’ power growth — large spikes can unintentionally raise your Command Power and thus raise the theshold of free migrants.
For Alliances
- Plan ahead. If you want to bring in strong recruits, contact the King before migration opens.
- Prioritize quality over quantity. Eight strong recruits in Legendary Season can reshape a server, but wasting slots on small upgrades hurts long-term growth.
- Time migrations strategically. Since slots refresh each season, plan big moves around the start of new seasons.
For Individual Players
- Know your historical highest power. That number determines whether you’re a free migrant or need a slot.
- Communicate early. If you’re aiming to migrate, talk to your destination server’s King or leadership before attempting the move.
- Track your target server’s Command Power. If you are slightly over the Command Power limit or touching on it, you may want to keep your historical power low for a while as the target server increases its command power, thus making your migration free.
Practical Tips
- For new servers: Keep migration open early, but control whale entries. Overpowering too early kills growth balance.
- For veteran servers: Use Special Slots to fill key strategic gaps — like top-tier defenders or high-tech players before KVK.
- For migrating groups: Ensure every player knows whether they’re above or below the Command Power threshold; one mistake could waste a precious slot.
- Keep communication tight. The King, R6s, and recruiters need a shared spreadsheet or tracker to manage who’s approved, who’s slotted, and when slots refresh.
Conclusion
Migration in Infinity Kingdom has evolved from a simple player action to a high-stakes strategic system. The introduction of Command Power, Special Migration Slots, and King-controlled permissions means movement between servers is now about politics, coordination, and timing — not just having a permit.
Bottom line:
- Migration is now a limited, controlled resource.
- Kings are gatekeepers of who joins and who stays out.
- Servers that coordinate their slot usage and manage Command Power intelligently will dominate the new era of inter-server politics.
While restrictive for some, this system promotes healthier competition and long-term growth — especially in early seasons, where balance has been a real issue. However, the lack of control over low-power migration remains a concern that may need refinement in future patches.
