Leaving and Rejoining Your Alliance During KvK (Legion of Frostborne)

Introduction

Today we are going to have a look at the perhaps most common question I get during KvK seasons: “Can I leave my alliance and come back to the KvK??”. With the updated Legion of Frostborne registration rules, many players are cautious about leaving their alliance once a season approaches. That concern is understandable: registration now matters, and being in the wrong place at the wrong time can lock you out.

However, once registration is complete and Frost begins, temporary alliance movement is not only allowed—it is often strategically useful. Understanding why experienced players do this helps remove the fear and turns the mechanic into a tool rather than a risk.


Registration vs. Participation: A Quick Reminder

Before getting into reasons, it’s worth restating the core rule clearly:

  • You must be in the alliance that registers for Frost
  • Once registration is finished and the season begins, your Frost eligibility is tied to that alliance
  • You may leave and later rejoin the same alliance without losing access

Everything below assumes registration has already completed.


Helping Other Alliances in Norheim

The most common and legitimate reason players temporarily leave is to support allied alliances in Norheim.

In practice, this happens when:

  • A secondary alliance is holding an important zone but lacks enough high-power players
  • A sister alliance needs temporary reinforcement for defense or structure pushes
  • Leadership wants experienced players embedded elsewhere for coordination

By leaving briefly and joining another alliance, you can:

  • Rally and reinforce under their banner
  • Contribute honor and pressure where it’s most needed
  • Help stabilize fronts without permanently restructuring alliances

Once the objective is complete, you simply return to your registered alliance and continue Frost as normal.


Temporary Support During KvK Itself

Although less common, the same logic can apply inside Frost:

  • Filling rally slots during critical pushes
  • Assisting with timed objectives
  • Acting as a bridge between allied groups

As long as you return to the alliance that registered you, your Frost status remains intact.

This flexibility is especially useful on competitive servers where coordination across multiple alliances matters more than rigid structure.


Changing Alliance Color for Honor Buffs

This is the question many players have been hesitant to test, and it’s now confirmed through direct testing:

You can leave, change alliance color, and rejoin your registered alliance to gain better honor buffs—and it works.

Some players leave briefly to:

  • Join a Kingdom where the honor ladder is more favorable to you
  • Gain access to stronger honor buffs

And yes. You can re-join alliances and KvK even after changing Kingdom. I have tested directly on alternate accounts and verified to function correctly before being done on mains. As long as the alliance you return to is the one that registered you, Frost participation is unaffected.


Administrative or Structural Adjustments

Occasionally, alliance leadership needs to:

  • Reorganize rosters
  • Shuffle members between main and secondary alliances
  • Resolve temporary capacity issues

In these cases, players may step out briefly while changes are made. Again, timing matters—but once Frost has begun, this can be done safely if handled carefully.


The “Keep Your Members Safe” Kick Trick

Another practical reason to understand alliance leaving and rejoining is member protection, especially for offline or inattentive players.

In Frost and Norheim, it’s still common to see situations where:

  • An enemy alliance ports aggressively into a cluster
  • A member is offline, unshielded, or slow to react
  • Leadership needs a fast way to prevent unnecessary losses

In these cases, officers can remove a member from the alliance to force their city out of danger and back to Norheim where the player can re-join the alliance and the KvK when back online.

A few important clarifications:

  • This no longer works on players who are in rage
    • It used to, but that interaction was extremely broken and heavily abused
    • The developers corrected this, and rage-state players cannot be kicked anymore
  • It does still work on players who are:
    • Offline
    • Forgetful
    • Sitting in unsafe zones without a bubble

For many alliances, this has become a quiet but effective safety tool—especially during off-hours.


Player Perspective

This is one of the most common questions I am getting asked during KvK seasons. Essentially the system is intentionally designed to lock registration, not movement. The developers want to prevent last-minute alliance hopping for KvK advantages, but they also allow flexibility for coordination, support, and optimization once the season is underway.

I’ve personally left and rejoined during Frost seasons for coordination and testing purposes without losing access, rank, or rewards. The only consistent failures I’ve seen come from players leaving before registration finalized.

Used properly, this mechanic gives experienced players flexibility without risk. The key is understanding when movement is safe—and why you’re doing it in the first place.
