Introduction

Must-Have Dragon Upgrade Talent Setup: Speed, Gold, and Long-Term Efficiency

Dragon progression is one of the slowest and most expensive systems in Infinity Kingdom. Unlike immortals, where EXP gains can be accelerated aggressively, dragons are constrained by very long upgrade timers, massive gold costs, and fragment-heavy domestication requirements.

At higher levels, a single dragon upgrade can take weeks and cost 50–60 million gold. At that scale, even modest-looking percentage bonuses translate into enormous real value. For that reason, every serious account should reserve one of their three talent pages for dragon-related efficiency.

These talents do not need to exist in isolation. In practice, dragon talents fit very cleanly into:

  • Resource collection + gnome boss farming pages (what I personally use)
  • Daily gnome camp and EXP farming routines

Read more here.

The key is not which page you merge them into, but that you always activate the correct talents before interacting with dragon systems.

Core Principle: Dragons Punish Inefficiency

Dragon upgrades punish two mistakes more than almost any other system:

  1. Starting upgrades without cost or speed talents active
  2. Farming dragon fragments without AP efficiency and beginning dragon crystal chest unlocks without speed optimization

Because upgrades are something you want to be running 24/7 with no downtime at all, correcting these mistakes early and getting all the speed and cost advantages you can as early in your playthrough as possible will make a big difference! Efficiency is not felt immediately, but you will feel it eventually when you outperform your peers!

Dragon Trainer – Upgrade Speed

Dragon upgrades can approach a month in duration. Any reduction to that timer compounds dramatically across multiple levels and across multiple dragons.

Always activate Dragon Trainer before starting:

  • Dragon level upgrades
  • Long upgrade chains where you queue progress back-to-back

This is one of those talents that does not feel impactful immediately—but months later, optimized accounts are simply further ahead.

Mandatory Talents for Dragon Upgrading

Dragon’s Treasure – Gold Cost Reduction

Dragon upgrades at higher levels routinely cost 50–60 million gold. A 5% reduction at that point is not a convenience—it is several million gold saved per upgrade.

This talent should always be active before:

  • Starting a new dragon level
  • Pushing multiple levels in succession

Over the lifetime of a dragon, this single talent saves an enormous amount of gold that can instead be funneled into technology, troops, or equipment.

Farming Dragon Soul Fragments: Domestication Efficiency

Upgrading dragon domestication abilities requires a steady inflow of Dragon Soul Fragments, which primarily come from gnome bosses and dragon chests. This makes AP efficiency and chest timing critical.

Effortless – Free Gnome Boss Attacks

Gnome boss farming is extremely AP-intensive, especially at higher levels where fragment rewards scale meaningfully.

Effortless removes AP cost entirely for boss attacks. This is one of the strongest dragon-related talents in the game because it converts:

  • AP → fragments
  • Limited daily stamina → free progression

If you actively farm gnome bosses, this talent is mandatory.

Seize the Day – Chest Opening Efficiency

Dragon chests are another quiet bottleneck. Seize the Day reduces chest opening time, which becomes especially powerful if you actively manage your chests instead of passively waiting.

Seize the Day is simply a good talent for any active player who opens chests regularly rather than letting timers idle. For max efficiency, run this! That being said, this is only value if you are active enough to consistently begin a new cook every time your current one is done.

How to Structure Your Dragon Talent Page

Dragon talents do not require a full page on their own. In fact, they integrate very naturally into existing efficiency builds.

Two common approaches work well:

Option 1: Merge With Resource Collection + Gnome Boss Farming

  • Ideal if you farm bosses regularly
  • Keeps Effortless and Seize the Day active during fragment sessions
  • Natural place for Dragon’s Treasure and Dragon Trainer

This is the setup I personally use, as it minimizes swaps and keeps dragon progression constantly optimized.

Option 2: Merge With Daily Gnome Camp / EXP Routine

  • Useful if you batch dragon interactions during daily resets
  • Allows you to stack EXP farming, boss farming, and dragon prep together
  • Requires more intentional timing but works just as well

Both approaches are valid—the important thing is consistency.

The most important thing here, is that you make sure to have each of the best talents in your 1 and 2 talent page. One of them should be technology boost talents and the other one dragon boost talents. Then fit in the remaining talents so you get two different sets. In either tech or dragon run EXP talents (if you need EXP), run Divine Walker in one and run Safe and Sound in the other, run Economics Expert in one and Gift of Piety in the other, etc.

Player Perspective: Why Dragon Talents Matter More Than They Look

Dragon progression is deceptive. Because upgrades are so long, players often forget which talents were active when they started them. Weeks later, the inefficiency is already locked in.

From long-term experience, dragon optimization is one of the biggest hidden gaps between accounts that feel similar in power but progress at very different rates over time.

If you ever look at another player and wonder why their dragons seem inexplicably ahead, the answer is usually not spending—it is habit.

Conclusion Summary

  • Dragon upgrades are slow, expensive, and unforgiving.
  • Every account should reserve one talent page for dragon efficiency.
  • Always activate:
    • Dragon’s Treasure before spending gold
    • Dragon Trainer before starting upgrades
  • For domestication farming:
    • Effortless is mandatory for AP efficiency
    • Seize the Day maximizes chest value
  • Dragon talents should be merged into an existing efficiency page, not isolated.

Handled correctly, dragon talents do not just save time and gold—they determine how far ahead your account will be six months from now.
