🛡️ Iron Curtain: Part of the Recent Revival of Earth–Wind Hybrid
A brand-new skill is coming to Infinity Kingdom, and it has the potential to shake up the meta in a big way. It’s called Iron Curtain, and while it’s not available just yet, early previews already have competitive players buzzing.

At first glance, it may not look like a game-changer — but if you dig deeper, you’ll see why it could reshape defensive strategies and potentially bring back the Earth–Wind hybrid, one of the classic march archetypes that has fallen out of the spotlight.
⚔️ What Iron Curtain Does
Iron Curtain is a passive skill designed specifically for physical carries like Alexander, Poseidon, or Wukong. It has two distinct parts:
- Damage Reduction: When your troop count is above 70%, reduce damage taken by 35%.
- This effectively makes your frontline much harder to burst down in the opening phase of a fight.
- In today’s burst-heavy meta, surviving the first ultimate cycle often decides the match. Iron Curtain gives your frontliners a massive cushion, buying critical time.
- Barrier Weakening: When your normal attacks hit, there’s a 60% chance to weaken barriers on all enemies by 30% for 30 seconds.
- The exact mechanics are still being clarified, while it is safe to assume it applies to shield like Charles’ ultimate and Energy Shield, we are still finding out if YSS shield effect for example are also part of this. If true, this could finally introduce a direct counter to YSS based meta teams.
🧩 Why This Matters
Part 1: The Early Damage Reduction
This is where the skill really shines.
- With Iron Curtain, your physical carries take 35% less damage right at the start, which often means surviving with enough HP to keep swinging.
- Survive longer = more attacks = more lifesteal/healing procs = higher total damage.
It can also be used for ramp-up strategies (like Battle Stance or Demonic Contract), which need time before hitting full power.
Part 2: Barrier Weakening
This is trickier. Shielding isn’t dominant in the current meta, so this effect won’t always be relevant. However:
- If Iron Curtain counts all shielding effects (YSS’s protection, Charles’ shields, Energy Shield, Fu Fei, etc.), it becomes a flexible soft-counter.
- Against Charles-heavy or tanky hybrid teams, reducing shield strength by 30% can absolutely matter.
- Even if it’s niche right now, it future-proofs physical teams against any shift back toward shield-heavy metas.

🌪️ Why This Could Revive Earth–Wind Hybrid
For a long time, Earth–Wind hybrids were feared for their balance of tankiness and strong physical DPS. Then the burst meta pushed them out.
Iron Curtain changes the equation:
- Add in the recent rise of auto-attack synergies (new normal attack procs, “Knife Through Butter” style skills), and suddenly Earth-Wind Hybrids are beginning to look viable again.

🏆 Who Should Use Iron Curtain?
- Alexander –Gains survivability for one-on-one fights + benefits from high rate of auto-attacks for procs/triggers.
- Poseidon – Becomes harder to delete early, possibly giving him time to ramp his AoE.
- Any physical-heavy frontline looking to fight back against shield-setups.
đź”® Final Thoughts
Iron Curtain may not look flashy at first glance, but its 35% opening damage reduction alone is decent in today’s meta. Add in the potential of barrier weakening, and its adding up to be a nice skill. I do not think this will be overpowered in any way, and I dont see this as a default skill for every setup. But it is very good to hace an improved physical shield for alex that also counters charles-energy-shield builds. Very good, and a step towards brining back hybrids? Possibly!
👉 Expect to see Earth–Wind hybrids with Alexander and other physical carries re-enter the Conquest scene once Iron Curtain goes live. It’s not just a defensive skill — it’s a skill that could mark the start of a new meta cycle.
