Legendary Season raises the building cap from level 55 to 60, but it also changes how upgrades work. From this point onward, having enough resources and speedups is no longer sufficient. Buildings must first have their Energy Core charged before their normal upgrade can begin.
For players entering Legendary Season, the main priorities are understanding Energy Cores, keeping the Forge producing Azure Crystals and preparing the correct building requirements for each new Castle level.
Castle 56-60 Requirements
Every Castle upgrade requires the Wall and two additional buildings to reach a specific level. Planning these requirements in advance is the fastest way to avoid unnecessary delays.

The Wall is required at every stage and should always be upgraded shortly after the Castle. The other requirements rotate between Barracks and important progression buildings.
For example, once Castle 57 begins, you already know that Wall 57, Cavalry Barracks 57 and Warehouse 57 will be needed for Castle 58. Their Energy Cores and ordinary upgrades can therefore be prepared while continuing to produce Azure Crystals.
Planning Your Progression
If your only objective is reaching Castle 60 as quickly as possible, follow the prerequisite table closely and avoid spending Energy Cores on unrelated buildings until the next Castle requirements are ready.
However, the shortest Castle route is not always the strongest account route.
Personally, I recommend prioritising the Academy whenever a new level becomes available.

Legendary Season introduces new Technology nodes, and research takes a significant amount of time. Starting this research early gives your account permanent combat improvements while you continue preparing the next Castle and Barracks upgrades.
My preferred progression is therefore:
- Reach the next Castle level.
- Upgrade the Academy and begin new Legendary Technology.
- Upgrade the Wall and buildings required for the next Castle.
- Upgrade the relevant Barracks and troop ranks.
- Continue toward the next Castle level.
This may be slightly slower than a pure Castle rush, but it avoids reaching a high Castle level with the Academy and research several steps behind.
Players should also avoid leaving the Forge and Tower of Knowledge at level 55 for too long. Both must reach level 59 before Castle 60 can begin, so delaying them creates a large progression barrier near the end.
Energy Core Basics Explained
Buildings above level 55 require Energy Core progression. There are five Energy Core tiers, matching the five new building levels from 56 to 60, with three stages in each tier.

Energy is added by consuming:
- Azure Crystals, produced in the Forge
- Stellar Crystals, obtained primarily through events
The first Energy Core requires 7,500 Energy and contains three reward thresholds:
| Stage | Total Energy |
|---|---|
| Stage 1 | 2,475 |
| Stage 2 | 4,950 |
| Stage 3 | 7,500 |
Completing these stages provides rewards such as resources and Building Speedups. Once the Core is full, you can begin the ordinary building upgrade if its resource and prerequisite requirements are also satisfied.
Energy Cores are attached to individual building upgrades. Charging one building does not unlock every other building at that level, and excess Energy does not carry into the next Core.
Producing Azure Crystals
Azure Crystals become available after entering Legendary Season with a level-55 Forge. They are manufactured by converting all four ordinary resources.
The largest production batch creates 999 Azure Crystals in just under ten hours:

Without any double-Energy activations, producing 7,500 Azure Crystals would require 60 million Food and 37.5 million each of Wood, Stone and Iron. It would also take 75 hours of continuous Forge production.
Keeping the Forge active is therefore one of the most important parts of Legendary building progression. Even players with large resource reserves can be delayed if they have not produced enough Azure Crystals.
Charging the Energy Core
Each Azure Crystal normally provides one Energy, but charging has a chance to trigger a double result and provide two Energy instead.
The exact probability is not officially displayed. Based on early observations, it appears to be around 10%. If this rate is accurate, filling a 7,500-Energy Core would require approximately 6,818 Azure Crystals on average rather than the full 7,500.
Auto-Charge can be used to speed up the process. However, because excess Energy does not carry over, players who want to conserve every possible crystal can complete the final few charges manually.
Summary
Legendary Season building progression is controlled by both ordinary upgrade requirements and the new Energy Core system. Azure Crystals are produced in the Forge using Food, Wood, Stone and Iron, then consumed to unlock individual building upgrades beyond level 55.
To progress efficiently:
- Keep producing Azure Crystals.
- Maintain reserves of all four resources.
- Follow the Castle prerequisite table.
- Keep the Wall moving alongside the Castle.
- Prepare future requirements before they become blockers.
- Prioritise the Academy if you want to begin Legendary Technology early.
- Do not leave the Forge and Tower of Knowledge until the final Castle upgrade.
The route to Castle 60 is ultimately a balance between Energy production, building requirements and research. Planning all three together will make the transition through Legendary Season considerably smoother.
