Beginner talents P2 – How to swap and use all talents effectively

Last week we did a talent guide for beginners with the basics of what are talents, and how to setup something for beginners. This lead to quite a few of you asking me what precisely they should run as their three talent trees and how swapping works. So this is what we will dive into today!

Talents

How does swapping work, and why is it such a huge deal?

The recent update to Infinity Kingdom has completely transformed how players can utilize talents, making it easier than ever to optimize your kingdom’s growth and battle readiness. For new players, understanding and using talent trees effectively can give you a massive advantage.

What you need to understand before understanding why this is so hugely valuable for us, is the fact that any new upgrade will have its duration based on the precise buffs and boosts active for the player at that precise snapshot in time. So if you have a city buff for 3% dragon speed + 10% dragon speed from talents active BEFORE you begin your upgrade, then your entire upgrade will be 13% faster. You can drop the city and remove the talents immidiately upon beginning the dragon upgrade without the upgrade timer changing.

Thus, you can take huge advantage of the new free-swap-talents!

Let’s dive into this beginner’s guide to help you make the most of your talents!

Big Changes to Talent Swapping

In the past, switching between talent trees came with a hefty cost of 200 gems per swap. This meant players had to carefully consider their decisions and stick with one tree unless absolutely necessary, such as before a major dragon upgrade or a critical PvP event.

But now, talent swapping is completely free!

This is a game-changer. You can now equip the perfect set of talents for any situation, whether it’s upgrading your kingdom, preparing for combat, or boosting your dragon’s power. Flexibility is key, and this update makes it easy to stay ahead.

Talent Tree Guides and Recommendations

There are multiple talent trees tailored for specific tasks, including:

  • Gold Talents: Optimize your gold production for the long game.
  • Dragon Talents: Focused on upgrading and enhancing your dragons.
  • Leveling & Raid Talents: For fast progression and efficient gnome farming.
  • Building & Resource Talents: Boost building speeds and resource generation.
  • Illusion Battlefield (IB) Talents: Designed for competitive events.
  • Combat (General PvP) Talents: Essential for battles and raids.

While advanced players will master each tree, beginners can stick with a few key setups to cover most situations effectively.

Three Essential Talent Trees for Beginners

As a beginner, you can focus on these three talent builds to maximize your progress:

1. Techno-Gnome Talent Tree

  • Purpose: Technology upgrades and gnome farming.
  • When to Use: At least once daily for tech upgrades and before hunting gnomes.
  • Key Benefits:
    • Speeds up technology upgrades.
    • Unlocks crucial gnome-killing talents like EXP Boost, Enchanted Stone Bonus, and No Troop Loss (ensuring sustainable growth).
  • Pro Tip: Always use all talent hits on gnomes while in this tree to maximize double EXP, enchanted stones, and deathless hits. This ensures steady immortal progression.

2. Dragon Talent Tree

  • Purpose: Boosting dragon upgrades and efficiency.
  • When to Use: At least once daily and before starting a new dragon upgrade.
  • Key Benefits:
    • Increases dragon upgrade speed.
    • Reduces gold cost for dragon upgrades (important later in the game).
    • Enables Divine Walker, allowing you to hunt gnomes without spending AP—a huge saver for your stamina.

3. Two choices: a default Versatile Combat Talent Tree OR a full combat tree only for intense combat situations

Because we can so easily swap between talent builds, what you want for your third build is much more combat heavy than it was 1, 2 or 3 years ago. So what we can do for our last talent tree is two things based on your preferred playstyle:

a) Either you can go full combat and always swap into this talent tree when you are raiding gnomes, or fighting in PvP.

b) .. or you can make sure you get the must-have 10% gold production from the development tree and then sink the rest into combat. That way, you can use it as a default tree for all times and only swap away once per day or to begin a building, tech or dragon upgrades.

Plan A continued…

If you chose to go full into combat talents here, you should only be in these talents while engaged in active combat. You need the gold buff passive active as many hours as possible. Note that the below talents are just what suits my personal immortal composition. Combat talents are not set in stone as to which are better (like with development). Therefore, you want to make sure to find a good fit based on your specific setup.

Plan B continued…

If you choose to have a mixed versatile talent setup for your third tree, you have room for a lot of the combat talents while spending 11 points into development for the maximum gold production boon.

Getting Started as a Beginner

If you’re just starting out, follow this simple routine:

  1. Use the Techno-Gnome Tree daily to farm gnomes and boost your technology upgrades.
  2. Swap to the Dragon Tree at least once a day for dragon upgrades and efficient gnome farming with Divine Walker.
  3. Set up your third tree as a combat-focused build for raiding and PvP.

By mastering these three setups, you’ll cover most of your needs while learning the game.
