Water with support-Bathony & Merlin

This article is on a spender water main march relying on Bathony to dish out solid damage whilst protecting Merlin’s troop count, making a VERY dangerous backline setup. Merlin deals insane damage while running Bathony as the best damage dealing support in the game!
This setup is pretty standard Assist meta however, instead of using a “support” Immortal to protect our Merlin, we use Bathony and rely on her ability to selfsustain and deal damage / control. This build abuse the fact that Merlin has the best ability damage out of anyone and that Bathony had high defense and highest effective DPS due to her bonus damage elemental buff.
While water does not have a Charles to protect, we have a healing dragon. Moreover, our Bathony is a much stronger DPS even in support build than most others! Merlin deals insane magical damage and as he is being assisted here will deal a good chunck of the damage.
On top, we rely on Herald to add a decent secondary DPS to the fight, and most importantly to debuff the enemy boosting Bathony’s damage even further.
We use Attila for what he is best at, dishing out damage while controling the battlefield like no one else can. Moreover, since he was buffed he now also adds a debuff stacking with Herald debuff and brining Bathony’s damage to absurd numbers.
The only drawback of using this as your main, is that you are unable to apply wounds, making fights versus earth and holy very difficult.
You want to run this passive loadout:
Bathony: Fighting Master + Weakness + Assist
Merlin: Death Breath + Annihilation + Concentration
Herald: Energy Suppresion/Resist + Oaken Guard + Malice
Attila: Adrenaline Rush + shelter + Fighting Will
There are small changes that needs to be made to the above default ToK setup depending on what you are fighting. Like if you are up against a lightning march with Khan Ysg, throw away Resist and put in energy suppresion. Changes you might want to consider are:
- You want to play around with Malice, shelter and misleading here depending on your enemy.
- If you are fighting other waters (Merlin’s) you need resist instead of energy suppresion. Fighting Khan’s you wanna do energy suppresion over resist. Fighting neither magic nor Khan, you want life link.
- You want to test and find a balance between offense and defense on Attila. If you are meeting heavy nuke, link or Resist or Link might be preferable to Adrenaline Rush.
- If you are having problems with your Merlin being CC’d too much, you can try running no Concentration but Fighting Master instead and Absolute Defense on Bathony.
