Basic Water Build – How to Build Water from Preparation into Seasons
Welcome, fellow Infinity Kingdom player! If you’re looking to build a powerful and versatile Water team from the preparation stages all the way through Season 1 (and beyond), this guide is for you. Water immortals excel at mixing magic damage and crowd control, which can be a huge advantage in PvP and PvE. Below, I’ll walk you through how to start with an easy-to-obtain team, transition into mid-game setups, and finally move into advanced Water lineups for maximum impact.

Why Build Water?
Water teams stand out for their solid balance of AoE damage, crowd control, and survivability. You’ll often see Merlin dishing out huge area damage, while frontliners like Attila or Herald hold the line with strong durability. As you progress, you’ll gain access to immortals that strengthen Water’s control aspects, making it an increasingly potent choice.

Early Game: Yoshi, Merlin, Attila, Herald
In the preparation stage, resources are limited, so it’s smart to use what’s readily available. The easiest Water combination to assemble early on is:
- Yoshi (Yoshitsune) – A consistent damage dealer with decent survivability, we will build into a semi-support later. Early, strong damage!
- Merlin – The Water team’s primary magic powerhouse, capable of large AoE damage.
- Attila – High regen speed and excellent control. Versatily immortal with fair damage and solid control output.
- Herald – Decent damage with an okay debuff adding to out physical damage. Good early on, change later.
You can learn more about this early, pure Water setup in the helpful article here:
Pure Water: Yoshi, Merlin, Attila, Herald
This lineup works wonderfully through the preparation stage and well into Season 1 as you farm, participate in events, and gather materials for the next phase of your Water journey.
Mid-Game Transition: Replacing Yoshi with Bathory
Once you’ve progressed deeper into the game and unlock Assist, you’ll want to consider Bathory instead of Yoshitsune.

Bathory offers:
- Shadow Affinity: She takes reduced damage from all elements except Holy, giving her extra staying power.
- Good Damage + Stuns: Bathory’s kit brings additional CC (crowd control), which is great for a Water lineup already leaning toward control with Merlin and other Water immortals.
By swapping out Yoshi for Bathory, you’ll notice your team’s overall survivability climbs significantly, especially against heavy-hitting teams that rely on direct damage. More stuns also make for longer fights where your Water crowd control and AoE can shine.

Regardless of Bathory or Yoshi in your build, once you unlock Assist you are able to progress into this mid-game build. Note that while a mid-game build this can last into season 4 maybe even conquest.

If you want to lean into control, this can be done once you unlock the Dragon Specializations. In that case, swapping in Hippo over Herald will net you a very strong control setup! If so, you need to pick Yoshi as you backling support/dps with assist over Bathory.
Late-Game Water: Himiko Builds
Eventually, you’ll reach a stage where you can unlock Himiko, a highly adaptable and powerful immortal who pairs beautifully with the Water element. Her synergy with Water lies in her burst damage potential and her ability to assist or support the team:
- Fighting Master: If you’re often facing Shadow or Earth lineups, giving Himiko Fighting Master helps her survive and deal damage more consistently.
- Assist: If you’d rather position Himiko as a semi-support, consider building an assist-focused version that still capitalizes on Water’s strong crowd control and magic output.

For this build you want to move into the following skills. These will take you well into the beginning of season 4 and Conquest at which stage you need to begin swapping in the new Stone Skills in more slots.
You want to run this basic passive loadout:
Merlin: Annihilation + Concentration + Nova / Absolute Defense
Himiko: Death Breath + Chase + Spell Disintegrator/Stormeye/Nova
Attila: Adrenaline Rush + Weakness + Fighting Master
Ragnar: Malice + Energy Suppression + Oaken Guard
Opinions and Tips
- Build Gradually: Start with the easy Yoshi-Merlin-Attila-Herald lineup. Gather gear, shards, and skill stones without stretching your resources too thin.
- Prioritize Control: Water excels when it layers stuns, slows, and debuffs on top of Merlin’s AoE damage. Bathory enhances that, and later Himiko can fill in offensive or support roles depending on your needs.
- Be Patient with Artifacts: As you progress, you’ll unlock stronger Water artifacts. Focus on upgrading crucial relics for Merlin (to boost damage) and your frontliners (to improve survivability).
- Skill Allocation: Skills like Fighting Master or Assist can drastically alter how an Immortal performs. Don’t be afraid to experiment, especially once you have Bathory and Himiko available.
Summary
A successful Water journey in Infinity Kingdom starts with a basic, easy-to-form Yoshi, Merlin, Attila, and Herald team. As you move into mid-game, consider swapping out Yoshi for Bathory to boost survivability and crowd control. Finally, once you have access to the more advanced builds, Himiko can elevate your Water lineup’s damage and utility, especially against Shadow or Earth compositions. By gradually evolving your roster and making smart skill and artifact choices, you’ll cultivate a formidable Water team that remains relevant well into later seasons. Good luck, and enjoy the power of the seas!
