Magic Artifact Bonus: Crit vs %dmg (Annihilation vs Deadly Bonus)

In this guide we are going to have a look at the Magic Artifacts of Infinity Kingdom. For this one, we are going to do a dive deep into the world of Magic Artifact Bonuses. The choice of either Annihilation or Deadly Bonus on artifacts is a complex choice.

Let’s figure it out togeather!

Annihilation versus Deadly

So how can it be that we have not given a streight answer as to which one is better? Annihilation or Deadly? Surely one must be better than the other? Truth is, the answer to that question is more complex than a simple binary answer.

Well then we are building our mages without chase and we need to figure out if Annihilation crit bonus is still better than the Deadly damage buff. Lucky for you, I have made the tests for you so you don’t have to!

Testing

I have been testing out a ton. My tests have been made by setting up a lonely Empress Wu to fight a lonely Charles. I repeated this fight a total of 40 times and recorded all avg. values for Imperial Fire Ultimates. Please see the data in the bottom of this article.

What I found was, that the value of adding either 10% Magical damage or adding 20% Crit Damage depends entirely on your crit chance. Makes sense right? The more we crit, the more value we get from added critial damage.

We always gain a boost to our damage from plain magic damage boost. Contrary, when we do not land a critical hit we gain no value at all from crit damage. But because the damage added by Crit Damage boost is double that of Magical Damage boost, we have a specific crit chance threshold we have to reach before adding 20% Critical Damage becomes more powerful than adding flat 10% Magical Damage.

Critical Chance Threshold

Based on the avg. value of our test data (read above and below) I calculated what the damage would be on avg. given 100 hits of Imperial Fire with each artifact bonus and for multiple different critical hit chance percentages.

Example of the equation: 10% critical hit chance
With 10% crit chance we get 90 normal hits and 10 critical hits, as such the equation become

Deadly: Damage = ( ( avg. normal hit dmg * 90 ) + ( avg. crit hit dmg * 10) ) * 1,1
Annihilation: Damage = ( avg. normal hit dmg * 90 ) + ( ( avg. crit hit dmg * 10) * 1,2)

Conclusion

You need to test the critical hit chance of your magic Immortals yourself. Check your reports and see if you are getting value from Annihilation or be better of with Deadly.

If you have a critical hit chance of 38% or higher = then you want to run Annihilation Bonus Artifact on your Mage.

If you have a critical hit chance of 37% or lower = then you want to run Deadly Bonus Artifact on your Mage.

In my opinion, the best way to test what your critical hit chance is against both enemies with Malice and without Malice, is to go to the Arena. Find a buddy to test on. Run your setup and give your mage Death Breath and attack your buddy many times both with him running Malice and without him running Malice. This will give you a good idea of your critical hit chance on your mage because Death Breath has an absurd high count of damage instances per fight.

For example, by repeating this fight against by buddy a couple times I quickly get a couple hundres data points.

That’s it for this guide on Magical Artifact Bonuses! Best of luck in your own testing!
