Hippolyta – one of the absolute best Immortals in Infinity Kingdom
Hippolyta (Hippo) Guide – Infinity Kingdom
Hippolyta is one of the absolute best Immortals in Infinity Kingdom and a personal favorite of mine. She isn’t just a must-have for fire setups; she also shines in other elements like water and lightning. Her unique ability to control enemy energy while dealing strong damage makes her an incredibly versatile and valuable asset in multiple lineups.
Hippolyta’s Ultimate Ability – Flaming Smite
Her ultimate ability, Flaming Smite, strikes enemies five times per cast, dealing 120% damage per hit. Once you acquire her unique artifact, Goddess’ Waist Belt, this increases to seven smites per cast. In addition to dealing damage, each smite removes 100 energy from the target. Moreover, each smite causes a 10% attack speed debuff on the target, stackable and with a 6s duration.
While her raw damage output is solid, the true power of Hippolyta comes from her energy reduction effect. This ability enables her to disrupt enemy ultimates, giving her team a significant advantage in both PvP and PvE scenarios.
Hippolyta in Different Setups
Fire Setup (Her Most Common Role)
Hippolyta is an essential part of any Fire team. Since Fire thrives on frequent critical hits, her multiple attack instances make her an ideal pair with Seondeok, whose ultimate damage scales with crit activations. To enhance this synergy:
- Consider using Energy Suppression to further prevent enemy ultimates.
- If you’re running a lower-level Fire build, Rage can be equipped on Hippolyta to increase her crit rate, further maximizing Seondeok’s damage output.
- She provides excellent control and helps sustain Fire’s high-pressure playstyle.
Lightning Setup (Control and Buff Synergy)
Hippolyta also fits extremely well in Lightning compositions due to her debuff application. In Lightning teams, applying debuffs increases overall team damage (due to the Lightning Dragon’s passive effect). Her attack speed slow on enemies contributes to this, making her an indirect damage amplifier.
A great Lightning composition featuring Hippolyta would be:
- Richard (frontline tank, stun control)
- Hippolyta (energy control, attack speed debuffs)
- Hammurabi/Himiko (Hammurabi’s ultimate boosted by debuffs)
- Genghis Khan (high burst damage)
This setup excels in both control and burst damage, making it a deadly combination.
Water Setup (Energy Control Focus)
Water teams benefit from strong CC (crowd control) and energy denial. A control-based Water setup including Hippolyta can prevent opponents from launching their ultimates, creating a huge energy advantage. Skills such as Energy Suppression and Weakness work well here.
Ideal Water control setup with Hippolyta:
- Attila (control and energy drain synergy through silence)
- Hippolyta (energy control, attack speed slow)
- Merlin (primary damage dealer)
- Yoshitsune (consistent DPS and execute) – can be swapped out if you have e.g. a Bathory or a Mathilda available.
While not as common as Fire, a Water-control setup with Hippolyta can be incredibly powerful.
Hippolyta for Spiders & Bosses
Hippolyta is one of the strongest immortals for Spider and PvE Boss fights. Her ultimate deals all seven smites to a single target when there is only one enemy, making her function as a pseudo-single-target nuker.
Even more importantly, her energy drain can prevent bosses from using their ultimate abilities entirely. By stacking Energy Regen skills (such as those from the Tower of Knowledge), she can repeatedly remove the boss’s energy, massively reducing incoming damage.
This makes her a top-tier pick for PvE content, significantly improving survivability and damage output over prolonged fights.
Final Thoughts
Hippolyta is an amazing immortal, not just for her strong damage but for her unique ability to control enemy energy and slow their attack speed. Whether she is placed in a Fire, Lightning, or Water team, she provides massive utility and helps shape the battlefield to your advantage.
Key Takeaways:
- Energy Denial: Her ultimate removes 100 energy per hit (7x per cast with artifact).
- Fire Team Synergy: Works exceptionally well with Seondeok by maximizing crit activations.
- Lightning Team Utility: Provides debuffs that increase Lightning team damage.
- Water Team Control: Combos well with other energy suppression and CC units.
- PvE Dominance: Can prevent bosses from using ultimates, making her a top-tier PvE immortal.
Hippolyta is one of the most versatile and impactful Immortals in the game. If you manage to obtain and build her, she will be an absolute game-changer in any lineup!
Myth Busting: Does Her Attack Speed Debuff Count as Chill?
There has been some speculation that Hippolyta’s attack speed slow might count as a Chill effect, potentially boosting Merlin and other Water Immortal’s ultimates. While an IK support employee initially claimed this was true, it has been proven false. Her ability does NOT count as Chill, so don’t build around that assumption!
That wraps up the guide! If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Otherwise, start building your Hippo and enjoy watching your enemies struggle to cast their ultimates! 🚀
