Athena is a powerhouse among the Chaos Immortals in Infinity Kingdom, consistently ranking as one of the top three Immortals in the game. Her strength is further amplified by her unique artifact, Aigis, which, although it may seem simple at first glance, provides an immense boost to her and her team’s survivability. In this guide, we will delve into what makes Athena so formidable and why her unique artifact, Aigis, is incredibly powerful.

Athena: A Top-Tier Immortal

Athena’s role as a Chaos Immortal is vital in any high-level team composition. Her abilities and stats make her a key player in both offensive and defensive strategies. Athena’s primary strength lies in her ability to sustain and protect her team, which is further enhanced by her unique artifact. Moreover, her unique ability to consistenly remove all negative effects makes her sustain power unrivaled. Many players are not very impressed with her, simply because she show quite low healing compared to being an expensive Chaos Immortal. However, it is important to note that the main strength from Athena comes from who mechanics which are not shown anywhere in your battle report!

1. She consistently removes all wounding and all negative effects from your team, making her one of very few things in the entire game to be able to counter the strongest ultimate abilities and tower of knowledge skills in the game.
2. Her Unique Artifact is the second mechanic that people are not seeing in reports and therefore underestimating. The power here comes from her ability to bolster the entire teams physical defense attribute.

Aigis provides a substantial physical defense boost to Athena and her allies. The artifact’s effect is described as:

“Increases physical defense for 12 seconds equal to 20% of Athena’s physical defense.”

Why is Aigis So Powerful?

At first glance, giving 20% of Athena’s physical defense to allies might not seem like a game-changer. However, when you consider the high attribute levels that Athena can achieve in the end-game, this becomes a massive boost.

Insane Physical Defense Boost

Athena can easily reach 9,000 to 10,000 physical defense. This means that Aigis provides an additional 1,800 to 2,000 physical defense to her allies for 12 seconds. To put this into perspective, this boost is equivalent to 22-24 fully upgraded physical defense nodes in the dragon talent tree, which is considered one of the best defensive nodes available.

Such a significant increase in physical defense cannot be underestimated. It dramatically reduces the damage taken by your team, allowing them to survive longer and sustain their attacks. This defensive boost is crucial in high-stakes battles where every bit of defense counts.

End-Game Attribute Levels

At the end-game, attributes play a crucial role in determining the outcome of battles. The boost provided by Aigis scales exceptionally well with the high attribute levels that players achieve. How to obtain Aigis?

It is quite streight forward actually. You obtain Athena fragments via the Chaos Roulette event, and as you progress through the 25 spins each time you clear the wheel, you are getting unique artifact fragments as the second most rare drop – usually coming around just before you get the Athena Immortal fragments. On average, maxing out your Athena Immortal in the Chaos Roulette will also net you 720 unique artifact fragments (avg. drop) meaning a solid 8 artifacts crafted when you max her. While this is far from the 15 it takes to max out an artifact, it is plenty to make a good chance at a decent roll and a good bonus upgrade for your Athena.
