Battle Stance (as of 2.8.3)

Battle Stance is one of the most unique and specialized skills in the Tower of Knowledge. It flips the typical pacing of battle by sacrificing early damage output for a massive boost later in the fight. For players interested in ramp-up strategies, this skill offers a rare and powerful mechanic — but only if used correctly.

In this guide, we’ll dive into what Battle Stance does, how to obtain it, which Immortals and builds it suits best, and whether or not it belongs in your arsenal.

🔍 Skill Overview

Battle Stance is an epic active skill that alters the flow of combat based on time progression. Its effects are split into two phases:

  • During the first 20 seconds of the battle:
    • Decreases all damage dealt by 70%
    • Completely blocks energy regeneration
  • After the first 20 seconds:
    • Increases all damage dealt by 100%
    • Increases energy regeneration speed by 35%

This stark trade-off makes the skill ideal for long battles, where surviving the opening moments allows you to unleash devastating power as the fight drags on. It’s not just a damage skill — it’s a tempo skill, changing when and how your team does damage.

📦 How to Obtain Battle Stance

Battle Stance is available in the Tower of Knowledge once you reach level 46. With the introduction of the season merge in Patch 2.8.3, this skill is now accessible as early as Season 1 and Season 2, giving early-game players a chance to experiment with powerful long-form builds.

Players can acquire the skill through:

  • Skill Chests in the Tower of Knowledge
  • Skill Selection Events like Benediction of Triss (if available)
  • Wisdom Well Event after it is unlocked

Because it’s an epic skill, it requires fewer shards than legendary skills to unlock and upgrade — making it a more accessible high-value choice.

⚔️ Applicability and Best Use Cases

Battle Stance is designed for ramp-up damage builds — team compositions that rely on heavy sustain early, then explode with damage after 20 seconds. The skill punishes early aggression and rewards teams that can survive a powerful opener.

This makes Battle Stance ideal in setups that emphasize:

  • High defense or healing in the first phase (Guard, Vitality Touch, Zenobia, etc.)
  • One main damage dealer who ramps up with stacking buffs (like Tutankhamun, Wukong, or Hannibal Barca)
  • Synergistic stall builds, where delaying the fight allows multiple damage modifiers to stack

It also used to be a popular partner for Armageddon, as it ensures that the massive burst from Armageddon’s late detonation happens during the 100% bonus damage window. That synergy is less prevalent now, but still viable in the right matchups.

In Season 1 and 2, where fights can often last longer and there’s less front-loaded burst, Battle Stance can be an exceptionally powerful tool. However, in Conquest season, where Energy Master builds dominate and fights often end in under 15 seconds, Battle Stance struggles to keep up.

Still, if you can endure the initial wave of enemy ultimates and survive long enough to enter the buff window, you can completely overwhelm teams with explosive damage and rapid ult cycling.

🔄 Synergies and Strategy

To use Battle Stance effectively, your march must be designed to survive the first 20 seconds. That means stacking defense, healing, or both. It’s not a plug-and-play skill — it demands coordination with other defensive skills.

Some of the best skill pairings and strategies include:

  • Life-Link + Absolute Defense: This combo can soak incoming damage and redirect it to the enemy, buying you the time you need to activate Battle Stance’s bonus phase.
  • Vitality Touch + Energy Shield: Keep your key damage dealer alive and healthy through the early suppression.
  • Demonic Contract: Like Battle Stance, it scales over time — pairing them can lead to staggering late-game burst.
  • Zenobia or Fufu support cores: Healers who can keep your frontline or carry alive without relying on early burst healing.

Ideal targets for Battle Stance are high-impact DPS immortals who scale over time:

  • Tutankhamun: Unmatched single-target burst after his ramp-up window. Battle Stance + Demonic Contract is a devastating combo on him.
  • Wukong: His damage increases below 70% HP — timing this with Battle Stance can create huge synergy.
  • Seondeok: For setups that require magical DPS scaling after a delay, especially in PvE scenarios.

📌 Conclusion

Battle Stance is a niche but extremely powerful skill for long-form, ramp-up builds. It punishes aggressive early damage but offers some of the highest potential output of any skill in the game — if your team is built to survive.

It shines most in Season 1 and 2, where battles last long enough to benefit from its full effect. In Conquest meta, it has limited general use due to the dominance of short, high-burst fights — but can still be devastating in the right hands.

If you’re a player who enjoys building toward a powerful late-game burst, and you have the sustain tools to get there, Battle Stance may be your sleeper MVP.

“Survive the opening, and dominate the rest — that’s the Battle Stance promise.”
