Lightning Strike

Lightning Strike Skill Guide – Tower of Knowledge Passive

In this guide, we take a deep dive into one of the newer legendary skills in Infinity Kingdom: Lightning Strike. Whether you’re testing it out on your mid-tier marches or considering it for one of your top squads, this skill introduces a unique dynamic to physical damage teams—especially those built around seriously wound synergies.

We’ll walk through what the skill does, how it works, best Immortal pairings, purchasing info, and some practical insights from player testing.

Lightning Strike – What It Does

You’ll find Lightning Strike in the Tower of Knowledge, right near Soul Synergy. As of now, it’s a legendary skill with position restrictions and a damage + debuff mechanic.

Skill Description:

  • Trigger: Every 12 seconds (70% chance)
  • Effect: Deals physical damage (Damage Rate: 90% + 30%/level) to all enemies and increases their damage taken by (3% + 1%/level) for 6 seconds
  • Bonus: If the target is seriously wounded, the damage is increased by 50%

Damage benchmark

Overall the damage from Lightning Strike averages out at 70% physical damage per second placing it above older skills such as Chaotic Blade etc., and generally quite high compared to other physical damage skills. What is more interesting however, is looking at the damage while condition is met. With an activation from Wounds (which you can have constant uptime on quite easily) you are getting 105% damage per second, which places is very high on the list of skills behind only skills like Blade Vortex and Drastic Action. In essence, this is a must have for Wounds-based setups and not the best in others.

💡 Quick Tip: The skill is reportedly being buffed in a future patch, reducing the cooldown from 12s → 9s, which will increase uptime and DPS significantly.

Brining it down to just 9s cooldown will further increase its usefulness taking the damage average to 93.33% DPS and a whopping 140% while wounds is active. Very impressive!

How to Get Lightning Strike

Lightning Strike is a pay-to-acquire skill (currently exclusive):

  • Cost: $140 total through the Recharge event
  • You’ll receive the required skill stones across the tiers in the event

At the time of writing, free-to-play access is not available, so this skill is only for players who are willing to spend.

Ideal Immortals for Lightning Strike

Due to its physical damage type and position restrictions, Lightning Strike works best on high-attack melee Immortals, especially those in physical-heavy or lightning-focused teams.

Top Picks:

🗡️ Alexander the Great

  • High physical attack (~10k+ with gear)
  • Excellent synergy in frontline burst setups
  • Compatible with Time to Shine, Fighting Master, and Chase

🗡️ Genghis Khan

  • Works great in backline physical builds
  • If running dual seriously wound Immortals (like Khan + Qin), Lightning Strike gets its 50% bonus damage consistently

🛡️ Hannibal Barca

  • Another powerful physical option
  • Less commonly used in current meta but still viable in tanky, retaliate-style teams

💡 Note: Lightning Strike is not available to Chaos Immortals or Magic/Support units, and is best left to main damage dealers in the front or backline.

Theorycrafting: Seriously Wounded Synergy

The real power of Lightning Strike comes from the bonus 50% damage if the target is seriously wounded. This makes it ideal in setups where:

  • You run two wound-inflicting Immortals
  • You have high uptime on wound effects from fast energy regeneration

One test setup:

  • Frontline: Alexander + Khan
  • Backline: Qin + Tokugawa
  • Result: Lightning Strike dealt 7M damage in a 38s battle, thanks to high uptime on wounds

While performance varies by matchup and timing, the synergy potential is very real when wound uptime is consistent.

Practical Testing & Performance

  • In tests, Lightning Strike performed reliably with 1.5x damage multipliers
  • Performance depends heavily on:
    • Wound uptime
    • Immortal attack stat (Khan with low attack didn’t benefit as much)
    • Fight duration (short fights = fewer triggers)
  • Optimal when paired with fast energy regen units and frontline sustain

It won’t always shine in short skirmishes but scales well in drawn-out battles or PvE boss fights where uptime is king.

Should You Buy It? Final Thoughts

🔥 Pros:

  • Unique AoE + debuff combination
  • Strong synergy with meta wound-based builds
  • Getting buffed soon (cooldown from 12s to 9s)
  • Great on staple Immortals like Alex and Khan

🧊 Cons:

  • Paywalled behind $140 recharge event.
  • Limited to physical attackers with positioning constraints
  • Dependent on synergy to hit full potential

Recommendation:

If you’re a spender building physical DPS teams, Lightning Strike is a worthy addition—especially once the cooldown buff goes live. It’s not a must-have, but it’s a high-ceiling skill when used with the right team setup.
